The victim told police that someone broke into his tool shed sometime overnight — and stole nearly $1,600 worth of tools.
“(The victim) advised that the padlocks from his back gate and the tool shed must have been cut due to there being no damage to the property,” the report said.

Stolen items included a Porta Power twin tank air compressor, two Portable Power air hoses, a one-ton aluminum lightweight racing jack, a low profile three-ton floor jack, a Ryobi weed eater, a Craftsman weed eater, Black and Decker weed eater, a short metric socket set, a deep metric socket set, a special deep socket set, and two master padlocks, the report said.
The victim called police a second time around 9 a.m. on Sunday to report his motion sensor light on his shed was destroyed, the report said. He said damage must have occurred sometime between 12:30 a.m. and 1 a.m., as he heard his backyard fence making sounds as if someone was hitting or climbing it.
“(The victim) stated he decided to go out into his backyard and see what was going on, once he went outside he observed two unknown males run away and get into a white Chevrolet four-door SUV,” the report said. “(The victim) stated he had a theft report completed on Feb. 22 for the items that were stolen, and he believes it is the same males coming back again.”

Officers responded to the second incident in the 200 block of Raydo Circle at around 8 a.m. on Saturday, according to a second Springfield police report.
When police arrived, the victim told them that sometime overnight someone had broken the left side rear passenger window of his work vehicle, a 2019 Dodge Caravan, and stole nearly $5,000 worth of items.
Items stolen include three Milwaukee stack-able toolboxes with assorted tools, three Ridgid stack-able toolboxes with assorted tools, a Milwaukee soft side toolbox with assorted hand tools, and a Milwaukee soft toolbox with drills and drill bits, the report said.
No suspect information was available for the incidents, and Springfield police continue their investigations.
