Springfield police began their investigation Oct. 4 when they were called to Walden’s Corner Pub in reference to an assault. Officers said they found the victim lying face up in the southeast corner of the bar and the victim was unconscious, according to an affidavit filed with the charges.
“The victim woke up and provided officers with identification,” the affidavit says. “(The victim) stated that he did not know what happened and could not recollect anything.”
Officers said they were able to view surveillance video of the situation, according to the affidavit. The video showed Miller and Robinson getting into an argument with the victim and people at the bar trying to stop Robinson and Miller from fighting the man, according to the affidavit.
“After approximately 20 seconds of verbal arguments, Mr. Robinson pushed (a woman) on the ground, which caused visible injuries to her right elbow,” the affidavit says. “The video then showed Mr. Robinson grabbing (the victim) by the neck/head area and throwing him to the ground while Mr. Miller landed on top of (the victim). Mr. Robinson then kicked (the victim) in the head area approximately five times while Mr. Miller hit (the victim) in the face approximately four times.”
Officers arrested Miller and Robinson and then went to Springfield Regional Medical Center in order to take pictures of the victim and his injuries.
“Upon arrival, officers were notified by (a doctor) that CareFlight would transport the victim to Miami Valley Hospital,” the affidavit says. “(The doctor) advised that the victim suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage, commonly known as a brain bleed.”
A next court date in the case has not been set.
