A man shot multiple times in Springfield was still at Miami Valley Hospital Monday morning.

The victim was shot Sunday afternoon on Delcourt Drive.

The man “ was suffering from multiple gun wounds to his chest, left arm, left rib cage area and lower back,” the report says.

The man was taken by CareFlight to Miami Valley hospital. A spokeswoman at the hospital said he was still at Miami Valley, but could not release his condition.

Officers are still investigating. No one was charged Monday morning in the shooting.

A witness said some sort of argument occurred that led up to the shooting.

“It feels a little bit different when it happens to you up close and it happens in front of your own house,” said Eric Thomas, who was at work when he started getting calls about a shooting that happened across the street from his house.

Thomas said his neighborhood isn’t a bad one, but he does see an upsetting trend of violence developing in the city.

“We as a community have to do a little bit better with what we teach our kids. There’s a total disregard for human life,” he said.

Thomas’ neighbor, Shannon Haripal, said she heard five gunshots before going to her door to see a fight break out with little children around.

“We need to come together as a group, a community, something, and try to figure out a way to end the devastation that’s happened to this city,” Haripal said.
