The investigation into Crawford began on Feb. 22, after officers were dispatched to Springfield Regional Medical Center, according to an affidavit filed in Crawford’s case.
At the hospital, offices spoke to the victim, who is pregnant. The victim said Crawford allegedly asked her to complete a drug deal for him that day, the affidavit said.

“She stated that she was to exchange an unknown amount of marijuana for $200 in front of an address on Selma Road,” the affidavit said.
The victim said she met an unknown man and gave him the marijuana, but the man immediately drove off without giving her the agreed-upon money, according to the affidavit.
“(The victim) stated that Crawford came outside after the transaction, and upon discovering that (victim) did not have the money, grabbed (the victim) and dragged her into the resident on Selma Road,” the affidavit said. “Crawford threw her to the ground and proceeded to repeatedly kick her in the stomach.”
The victim said Crawford “grabbed everything he could reach and hit me with it,” according to the affidavit.
“(The victim) stated Crawford then produced a small, silver, semi-automatic handgun, He put the firearm into (victim)’s mouth said ‘you best come up with my money or you and that baby are gonna go,” the affidavit said. “(Victim) advised she could clearly see Crawford’s finger on the trigger of the firearm while it was in her mouth.”

It was then that another woman in the house on Selma Road called the victim’s mother, the affidavit said.
Crawford put the victim and the woman into a vehicle and took them to meet the victim’s mother, according to the affidavit.
“Crawford then drove both (the victim) and the unknown female to an intersection and ordered them both to exit the vehicle,” the affidavit said. “A short time later, (the victim’s mother) arrived. (The victim’s mother) passed (the $200) to the unknown female.”
The victim’s mother then drove the victim to Springfield Regional Medical Center.
At the hospital, officers observed the victim had a swollen upper lip and blood inside of her mouth, the affidavit said. The victim also had blood on her sweatshirt and her hands.
The next court date in Crawford’s case has not yet been scheduled.
