Springfield police began their investigation on Oct. 15 when they were called to a home on South Shaffer Street in reference to a weapons call. Officers met with a couple victims there, according to an affidavit, who said Flint had assaulted one of the women.

“(Flint’s girlfriend) stated that Mr. Flint asked to use her Facebook account and at approximately 9:30 a.m. began to question her about messages (She) had received in 2015,” the affidavit says. “(The woman) stated that she and Mr. Flint began to verbally argue.”

Flint left the house but returned around 2 p.m., according to the affidavit. He allegedly assaulted the woman when he returned.

“(Flint’s girlfriend) pushed past Mr. Flint to enter the bedroom and Mr. Flint then struck her in the face,” the affidavit says. “(The woman) could not recall if Mr. Flint struck her with a closed fist or open at the time. Mr. Flint then grabbed (the woman’s) maroon HP laptop and broke it.”

The woman then went into the living room where the other woman was already seated, the affidavit says.

Flint struck his girlfriend again, placed her a headlock, punched her with a closed fist and kicked her, according to the affidavit.

The other woman tried, but was unable to break up the fight, according to the affidavit.

“Mr. Flint then produced a purple handled kitchen knife and brandished toward (the women),” the affidavit says. “Mr. Flint told them if they attempted to leave the house that he would stab (his girlfriend)”

The affidavit says Flint attempted to stab a wooden coffee table in the living room three times with the knife, but instead cut his finger while doing so. When he went to the bathroom to tend to the cut, another woman returned to the home and called police.

“Mr. Flint then fled out the back door,” the affidavit says.
