Springfield man found passed out in running car with pot
Springfield Police Officer Stephen Henson wrote in an affidavit that he and other officers responded to a reported shooting in the area of Glenn and Lexington avenues when they were informed that a gold Chevy Tahoe might have been involved. Henson said an officer saw a Tahoe matching that description in a driveway on Charles Street and officers found Jennings in the driver seat.
Officers allegedly found pills in an area where Jennings had reached his hand toward, police said. Officers also said they found bullet holes in the SUV. The officers said with this evidence they decided to search the rest of the vehicle.
“I could see that the center console had been tampered with,” Henson wrote. “When Officer Lowe removed this piece I could clearly see a large plastic bag inside this cavity. I could also see that visible inside this baggie were suspected narcotics.”
Henson said officers also found a large amount of cash on Jennings.
Jennings pleaded not guilty to the charge Monday and his bond was set at $10,000.
