David Clark, 52, was arrested at about 4:30 a.m. Monday night at his home in the 200 block of South Plum Street.

Clark was allegedly intoxicated and began arguing with the victim, who tried to call someone to come pick her up, according to a police report. Clark ripped the phone out of the victim’s hand and allegedly struck her in the right temple near her eye.

Clark then grabbed what police described as “small bat-like piece of wood that he has affixed nails affixed into,” striking the victim in the back of the head, the report said.

After another argument, the victim waited until Clark fell asleep to call police. When officers arrived on scene, Clark was arrested on one count each of domestic violence and assault. He repeatedly told police he didn’t touch the victim.

Clark was placed in the Clark County Jail.
