A Springfield man is accused of pushing a woman 38 weeks pregnant down the stairs.

Quinn Baxter Jr., 25, of Springfield was indicted in Clark County Common Pleas Court on a charge of domestic violence, the Clark County Prosecutor’s Office said. A next court date wasn’t set.

Baxter’s legal troubles started when Springfield Police launched an investigation after they were called to a home around 11:25 p.m. June 2 on the 1400 block of Limestone Street. When they arrived they spoke with a woman who said she had been assaulted by Baxter at a home on the 1600 block of South Center Boulevard

“She arrived home to the suspect Quinn Baxter throwing her belongings down a flight of stairs,” the affidavit says. “Mr. Baxter is the father of (the woman’s) unborn baby.”

The affidavit says the woman was 38 weeks pregnant at the time of the allegations.

“(The woman) then went up the stairs at which time Mr. Baxter came down the stairs and pushed (the woman) down the stairs,” the affidavit says. “Mr. Baxter then pinned (the woman) into a corner between a refrigerator and a wall. (The woman)( then stated that Mr. Baxter grabbed her by the throat with his hand in a choking manner. (The woman) stated that she did not lose consciousness but began to see white dots in her eyes which is a precursor to being choked unconscious.”

The woman said Baxter struck her several times in the left side of the head and grabbed her right arm and drug her causing a scratch.

At that time Baxter’s stepmother separated the two, the affidavit says, and the woman escaped the house.

A small red mark on the woman’s neck was photographed at Springfield Regional Medical Center, the affidavit says.
