Springfield man accused of biting, punching woman

A Springfield man is facing domestic violence charges after he allegedly punched and bit a woman he knows on Thursday morning.

David C. Taylor, 29, is expected to appear in Clark County Municipal court at 10:30 a.m. today.

Springfield Police Division officers responded to the 1800 block of Lincoln Park Street for a domestic disturbance at about 9 a.m., according to a police report.

The victim told police she and Taylor began arguing after he accused her of seeing other men. Taylor allegedly began poking her in the face. As she got up to leave, he allegedly pushed her into a hallway wall. The woman then put her hand in his face and Taylor allegedly bit her, the report said. He then began smacking and punching her, it said.

After the fight, Taylor allegedly left the apartment and was later arrested by officers near South Center Street and East Johnson Avenue. He allegedly told police he bit the woman in self defense as she was punching him in the face.

Taylor was also served a warrant for criminal damaging issued by the Municipal Court. Taylor was placed in the Clark County Jail.
