Springfield Fire and Police Divisions are investigating a vehicle that was set on fire Friday as an arson.

Officers responded around 4 p.m. to Highland Avenue and Howard Street for a vehicle that had been set ablaze, according to a Springfield police report.

“Springfield Fire responded to a fully engulfed motor vehicle and extinguished the fire,” the report says.

When police arrived, they found the fully burned 1995 Chevrolet Tahoe station wagon parked at the corner of the street in front of a house in the 1800 block of Highland Avenue.

No suspect or witness information was available.

Springfield Fire and Police Divisions continue their investigation into this arson incident.

The divisions are also investigating two other vehicle fires that were reported earlier this month as an arson.

The first vehicle fire was reported on March 1 in the 1600 block of Charles Street after someone set a 2003 Lincoln Town car on fire. The second vehicle fire was reported on March 12 in the 1000 block of East John Street after someone tried to set a 1966 Buick Skylark on fire with a box of matches.
