A $5,000 bond was set for Martin in the case. Fleming did not appear for a scheduled arraignment Tuesday morning.

Springfield police began their investigation when they were called to a residence on Harrison Street. There, they met with a man who was bleeding from his elbow and had noticeable road rash marks on his back. The man told police that he was messaging Martin on Facebook and the two agreed to meet at a home on Sherman Avenue.

“(The man) stated that he was going to meet up with Ms. Martin to hang out,” an affidavit filed with the charges says. “(The man) stated that Ms. Martin came to (his) house to pick him up and take him back to Sherman Avenue to hang out at Ms. Martin’s home.”

However, as the car was traveling, the man told police that Fleming was hiding in the backseat.

“(The man) stated Fleming was in the backseat and popped up behind the seat (he) was sitting in,” according to the affidavit. “(The man) stated that Mr. Fleming choked him.”

The affidavit also says Fleming accused him of trying to sleep with his girlfriend and pointed a gun at his head.

“(The man) stated that Mr. Fleming then hit him two times with the handgun about his head,” the affidavit says.

“….Mr. Fleming then pushed him out of the vehicle as it was traveling approximately 25 to 30 miles per hour,” the affidavit says.

Officers were able to locate the two suspects on Water Street and Mount Vernon, according to the affidavit. They were pulled over and arrested, the affidavit says.
