Springfield Catholic school closed due to social media threat

A Springfield private school is closed Wednesday due to a social media threat that is going around, according to Springfield police.

Catholic Central High School closed today as a precaution after a threat claiming “Central students” should stay home went viral on social media.

Springfield police investigating two Saturday tool theft incidents

Springfield police said they responded to the school at 1200 E. High St. along with the administration to investigate the threat.

There was no credible threat and it’s unknown what exact school the threat was referring to, Springfield police said.

Additional details were not immediately available.
