Lane remained in the Clark County Jail on Friday.
Clark County Deputy Nicholas Moody attempted to pull over a car that passed him with its high beams on in March near Lagonda Avenue in Springfield, according to an affidavit. Moody wrote instead of complying with his orders, Lane allegedly ran away from the stop.
“The male began to walk away at a slow pace as I told him to come back to me,” Moody wrote. “The male then took off running east bound toward the dead end street.”
Moody said he went back to the car and allegedly saw a bag containing green vegetable matter. The deputy said the car was locked but he was able to open it and conducted a search.
“I then opened the compartment in the arm rest and located a clear plastic bag with a large amount of a white powder substance,” Moody wrote.
He also found a scale, he said. A test conducted by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations found the substance to be cocaine.
After more searching, Moody allegedly found possible medication, according to the affidavit.
Moody wrote that the vehicle was found to be Lane’s and a picture of him matched the person he saw run away. An arrest warrant was requested for Lane in July and he was arrested soon after.
