Jonathon L. Miller said he was at home in his bedroom about 1 a.m. Thursday when he heard a loud noise, according to a Springfield Police Division report. The suspect, who hasn’t been identified, then entered his room holding a handgun and told Miller to get out, the report says.
Miller was pushed into the hallway and then the kitchen, police said, where he was struck in the head with a handgun. The gun went off after he was struck, the report says.
The suspect then walked into the living room and Miller reportedly told police he saw a second suspect, then heard his brother Brandon M. Miller shoot the first suspect with a shotgun.
The second suspect ran off, police said.
Medics took the suspect to Springfield Regional Medical Center before he was flown to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
Jonathon Miller was taken to Springfield Regional for treatment of his head wound.
Investigators found that the kitchen door had been forced open, the report says, and found drops of blood around the home.

Dispatchers said a homeowner is currently being interviewed by detectives following a shooting during a home invasion attempt.
Police said the homeowner, who was struck and injured during incident, was treated and released from Springfield Regional Medical Center.
The person shot, who police said is the suspect in the attempted home invasion, remains at Miami Valley Hospital but their condition is unknown.
Other details surrounding the investigation were not available.

Springfield police said one person was shot and a second person, first believed to be shot, only suffered injuries during an altercation on Quincy Road Thursday morning.
According to dispatch records, police and medics were dispatched at 1:06 a.m. to a home in the 1800 block of Quincy Road on reports of a person shot.
Dispatchers said officers found one person shot in front of the house, and another person suffering from injuries sustained during a suspected altercation, updating first reports that two people shot.
According to police scanner traffic, the incident was dispatched as a home-invasion shooting, with the suspect being the person shot.
A condition update was not available, but CareFlight was requested to meet medics at Springfield Regional Medical Center. The suspect was transported to Miami Valley Hospital. The condition of the other injured person was also not known.
Dispatchers said detectives were on scene investigating.

Springfield police and medics have been dispatched on a reported double-shooting on Quincy Road Thursday morning.
Crews were dispatched to a house in the 1800 block of Quincy Road just before 1:10 a.m. on a possible home-invasion shooting.
Initial reports indicate one suspect and the homeowner were shot during the incident.
The conditions of those shot were not immediately known, but CareFlight was dispatched to Springfield Regional Medical Center for one of the people involved.
It was unknown if any suspects fled the scene after the home invasion attempt.
