Report: 3 vehicles at Springfield residence broken into, items stolen

Three vehicles were reportedly broken into at the same house on East Main Street over the weekend.

Springfield police are investigating three vehicle break-ins reported at the same residence.

One of the victims contacted Springfield dispatch around 5 a.m. on Sunday “regarding damage to his vehicle, as well as items stolen from inside of his vehicle,” according to a police report.

“In addition to (the victim’s) vehicle being damaged and missing items, (the victim’s) mother and cousin’s cars were also damaged and missing items.”

The victim told police all three vehicles were parked in front of his residence in the 800 block of East Main Street and secured just after midnight.

“(The victim) checked on his vehicle at 5 a.m. to find that his front, driver side window of his 2001 Ford Taurus had been broken. Also, (the victim) found that his personal items were scattered about the car, and on the ground outside of it,” the report says.

The only items the victim immediately saw missing were two pocket knives, the report says.

The victim’s mother’s 2005 Chevy Blazer was also damaged, and a car stereo, two coats and jewelry was reported missing.

“This vehicle had the rear, passenger side window broken out,” the report says. “(The mother’s) personal belongings were also scattered throughout her vehicle.”

The victim’s cousin’s 2004 Ford Mustang was also broken into, and two BB guns and a car stereo were reported missing.

“(The cousin’s) vehicle had a broken front passenger window broken out. The only items (the cousin) noticed missing immediately were two BB guns,” the report says. “(The cousin’s) car stereo was also taken.”

No suspect information was available for any of the incidents.

Springfield police continue their investigations.
