Officers responded around 1:20 p.m. on Sunday to Walgreens, 1880 S. Limestone St., in reference to a robbery, according to a Springfield police report.

When police arrived, they spoke to an employee who said she was working at the front register when the suspect entered the store.

“She stated she immediately noticed that he was holding the handle of a handgun in his right coat pocket,” the report said.

The suspect asked the employee where the pregnancy tests were, and she directed him to the aisle where he picked one out and put it in his left coat pocket

“He then walked to the front of the store with his hand still on the exposed handle of the gun and walked out the front door without paying for the item,” the report said.

Springfield man pleads not guilty to charges stemming from standoff

According to the report, the suspect is described to be in his teens, 5-foot-4, 110 pounds, and was wearing a tan coat and blue jeans.

No other suspect or witness information was available, and Springfield police continue their investigation.
