When police arrived, they spoke with an employee who said, “an unknown male had approached the register and told him to give him all the money.”
After the employee initially told the man no, he walked around the counter, pulled out a knife and told the employee to open the register, the report said.

“(Employee) then opened up the register and pulled all the money out and put it onto the counter. The suspect male then picked the money up off the counter and exited the store heading north,” the report said.
Two other employees who were also in the store said they were standing behind the counter during the robbery when the suspect pointed the knife at them as he walked past them to the register, the report said.
Officers were then able to watch the surveillance video, and saw the suspect enter the store, go to the cooler and take a 24-ounce Arnold Palmer, then walk to the register to get the money, the report said.
According to the report, the suspect is described as 5-foot-4, 140 pounds, and was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, brown boots and a white mask.
Nearly two hours before this robbery, officers also responded around 2:30 a.m. on Friday to Speedway, 2996 Derr Road, in reference to a robbery that had just taken place, according to a Springfield police report.
When police arrived, they spoke with an employee who said, “she was just robbed by an unknown male who had a gun.”

The employee told police the unknown man entered the store while she was fixing cups at the drink machine when she turned around and noticed the man.
“At this point, (employee) stated the male approached her and told her to look down. (Employee) stated as she was told to look down, the male flashed her a silver handgun that was located in the male’s right-side gray hoodie pocket,” the report said.
After the man showed the gun to her, he told her to load a stack of 50 or more prepaid VISA cards, the report said. The employee was unable to load the cards, so he told her to give him the money out of the registers.
“(Employee) stated once the male received the money, he started towards the back door and that’s when the male ordered her to give him (employee’s) cell phone. (Employee) stated the male took her phone and left the store in an unknown direction,” the report said.
Once the suspect left, the employee hit the panic button several times and attempted to call 911.
According to the report, officers were able to watch the surveillance video, but were unable to identify the man who was wearing a gray hoodie, gray sweatpants, a black face mask and blue shoes.
No other suspect or witness information was available for either robbery, and Springfield police continue their investigations.
