Springfield Police Division Lt. Randall Ballentine said McClendon walked into the bank just before 2 p.m. at 920 W. Main St. and handed the teller a note.
Records did not say how much, if any, money McClendon took from the bank.
However, after police were called, the lieutenant said, McClendon was seen a short time later riding a bicycle by officers on patrol in the area. The police called for assistance and took him into custody without incident.
The bank posted a sign on its doors, saying it was unexpectedly closed but did not say why.
The Security National Bank branch at 2730 E. Main St. in Springfield was robbed in January. No one was hurt when the masked gunman demanded money while customers were inside the bank.
