Springfield police are investigating a robbery that was reported early Thursday morning at a motel on West Columbia Street.

Officers were dispatched around 12:30 a.m. Thursday to The Executive Inn at 325 W. Columbia St. as it was just robbed at gun point, according to a Springfield police report.

When police arrived, they spoke with an employee who said a man rode his bicycle up to the entrance of the motel and set it on the railing.

“(The employee) continued to say that after the suspect set his bike down, he opened the front door and pointed a black revolver at him and stated, “give me all of your money or I will shoot you,” the report says.

The employee then emptied the drawer and gave an unknown amount of money to the suspect.

“(The employee) added that after the suspect collected the money and was walking out, he stated, “Stay inside or I’ll shoot,” the report says.

The suspect was last seen heading east on West Columbia Street wearing a dark colored hoodie, jeans and a black bandana with a white pattern on it.

No injuries were reported, and no other suspect information was available.

Springfield police continue their investigation into this robbery.
