According to a police report, investigators responded around 10:30 p.m. on a report of someone shot in the alley. Officers found a gray truck — still running — and Edley in the driver’s seat with an unidentified number of gun shot wounds.
In a 911 call, a woman tells dispatchers she heard two shots fired in the alley near her house.

Edley was pronounced dead at the scene.
Neighbors in the area have mixed reactions to the shooting. While some of them said they’re trying to carry on as normal, one neighbor said she’s taking steps to move not only away from the neighborhood, but away from the city.
“I was born and raised here, and it’s different. Like, there’s too much violence now. When I was younger I could walk around. Now you’re scared for your kids to even walk a couple blocks,” said Whitney Benson.
Benson said her two children, who are 10 and 13 have been affected by the shooting’s close proximity to their house. Benson said Edley’s body was found just behind her garage.

“It took them forever to even go to sleep. But they said they woke up in the middle of the night and they were having dreams,” she said.
Benson said it’s not even the first time this type of violence has been so close to her family. She said within the last few months, there was another shooting, but this time it was in front of her house.
“It’s just getting worse and worse,” Benson said. “And I know everything happens anywhere but it’s just close to home so it’s just scary.”
Police said Monday that no arrests have been made in the case, but they continue to look for a suspect or suspects. It’s also not clear at this time what events led up to the shooting.
