“Officers found a fire escape unlocked that led to the roof of the building,” the report says. “Officers located a small hole cut into the roof of Best Buy. Officers then made contact with the manager.”
The manager opened the door to the store for officers who cleared the premises and found the items missing, the report says.
“Officers located a backpack and wire snips laying in the men’s bathroom,” the report says. “These officers observed broken pieces of ceiling tile on the ground and saw a hole in the ceiling. Officers then walked into the HUB room and observed multiple pieces of ceiling tiles missing from this room as well.”
The manager was able to play the surveillance video for officers, the report says.

“The video showed at approximately 3:52 a.m. a subject dressed in all black exits the men’s bathroom,” the report says. “The male then ran to the front of the store and began removing iPhone products from the display desk. The subject then ran to the back north warehouse door and the west emergency exit door but was unsuccessful at getting out. The video then showed the subject disappear back into the men’s restroom. This was the last time video showed the subject.”
Officers rechecked the area but were unable to locate the subject, the report says. Photos were taken of the scene but no charges were filed due to insufficient suspect information, the report says.
