Springfield police investigate a burglary at a home on Portage Path.

A Springfield home was broken into this week on Portage Path, according to a police report.

Springfield police responded around 11 a.m. Monday to the home in the 1800 block on a report of a burglary, according to the report.

When officers arrived, they spoke with the resident who said cash, tools, jewlery and DVDs were stolen from the home between 11 a.m. and 11:50 a.m.

“(The resident) stated she had left her house and when she returned she discovered the rear west door had been forced open,” the report says.

The resident also told police the suspect entered her house and removed the items without consent.

“We (the police) observed what appeared to be a muddy smeared shoe print on the rear door and also damage to the door jam,” the report says.

According to the report, $430 worth of tools were stolen, including a chainsaw, drill, toolbox, paint brushes, paint, tape rolls and paint plastic, along with $50 worth of DVDs, $10 worth of jewlery, and $32 in cash.

There was no suspect information listed, and police are continuing their investigation into the burglary.
