READ: Springfield police investigate 'grab-and-run' at Kay Jewelers
“(The employee) stated that she got behind the counter to show him jewelry,” the report says. “The man was at the rear of the store looking at two bracelets to match his necklaces. he leaned on the counter while looking at the jewelry. (The employee) stated that she handed the man a gold Cuban link bracelet and a gold diamond Gents Bracelet to look at. When the jewelry was in the suspect’s hands, he looked at the items then fled the store.”
The report says the man did not attempt to pay for the bracelets and did not stop when the employee shouted at him.
Another employee working towards the front of the store told police she saw the suspect flee, according to the report.
“She stated that the man fled the scene and got into an older model Cadillac four-door car parked to the north of the jewelry store,” the report says. “She stated that the vehicle had a dent above the driver’s side tire and it had dark tinted windows.”
The report says the man did not display a weapon during the incident and that the employees did not feel threatened.
The report describes the suspect as a 5 feet 8-inch tall man wearing black shoes, jeans and a black shirt. Anyone with information should call the Springfield Police Division at 937-328-3434.
