Sexton was arrested in the early hours of July 25 after the Clark County Sheriff’s Office received a report the previous day that a man suffered several knife wounds including in the stomach. The victim’s father told county dispatchers that it looked like part of his son’s intestines were hanging out, according to an affidavit filed in municipal court.
Clark County deputies said the victim told his father that Sexton had stabbed him. Law enforcement reported later finding blood in the middle of the road near Sexton’s home in the 400 block of Frayne Drive in New Carlisle. That location is where the stabbing is believed to have taken place, according to the affidavit.
The victim was transported by helicopter to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton and Sexton was located at a house in the 1000 block of Campbell Avenue near his home. According to the affidavit, Sexton told law enforcement that his cousin had pulled up to that address.
Sexton told deputies that his cousin became upset with him after he mentioned he did not know where his cousin’s girlfriend was, the affidavit says. Following an argument, Sexton said his cousin followed him as he drove to Frayne Drive, according to court documents.
Sexton told deputies that he later got into a physical altercation with his cousin and punched him several times. However, he later admitted to stabbing the victim several times with a knife and later dropped the weapon into a storm drain, according to the affidavit.
Clark County Sheriff’s deputies were able to locate the sewer drain and recover the knife, according to court records.
