Information about Layne’s condition was not available Friday.
At about 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Layne, who was not wearing a helmet, rear-ended a truck that was going about 55 to 60 mph on Urbana Road near the Navistar International plant, said Bush.
The motorcycle ended up in a nearby field.
Charges could be filed pending further investigation, officials said.
Traffic was re-routed at the scene for nearly two hours.
Layne was described as alert and talking after the accident.
