More than $1,000 in valuables stolen in Springfield burglary

Springfield police are investigating a weekend burglary where more than $1,000 in valuables was stolen.

Law enforcement were called Sunday to an RV on Kentucky Avenue in reference to a burglary. The owner said he had been gone for a couple of weeks and returned to find his RV was burglarized.

According to the police report, tools valued at over $1,000 was stolen from the RV and several DVDs valued at $200 were also taken.

“(The owner) stated the passenger side window had been broken and the door unlocked,” the report says. “A TV was taken off the wall but not removed from the RV. (The owner) advised that many hand tools and power tools were taken from the RV.”

Police spoke to witnesses at the scene who said they spoke to a couple of suspects. A witness said that two people informed him that the owner had died and they needed to get inside to take his things.

The witness said he did not let the suspects into the RV and did not see them go inside. No one has been arrested or charged in the incident, according to the report.

“No charges have been filed and this incident remains under investigation,” the report says.
