Springfield police are investigating a Wednesday home break-in.

Police began their investigation when they were called to a home on the 1400 block of Maiden Lane at about 5 p.m, a Springfield police report says. The report says they met a woman who said someone entered her house without permission and stole her items.

“She advised that she was in a rush to go get some medical treatment for a back injury this morning,” the report says. “She returned and immediately knew something was wrong because her cat was on the front porch and it is never outside. She found the front door unsecured and not closed completely.”

A suspect entered the home through the unsecured front door, the report says, and went to her bedroom.

“She found her prescription bottles on the floor and open,” the report says.

The suspect allegedly took a number of drugs from the bedroom, the report says. Also missing was jewelry, according to the report.

“She then discovered her jewelry had been moved on her dresser,” the report says. “The suspect took earrings and a diamond ring. She is not sure what else was taken at this time.”

Police conducted an investigation at the house and collected evidence, the report says, but no arrests have been made.
