Man wanted for striking, critically injuring teen girl in OVI crash in jail

A wanted 39-year-old man accused of striking and critically injuring a 13-year-old girl with his SUV is now in jail.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced on social media that Michael S. Wade was arrested Tuesday morning in Springfield.

He is being held without bond in the Clark County Jail, awaiting arraignment in Clark County Common Pleas Court following his Feb. 3 indictment for aggravated vehicular assault and operating a vehicle under the influence.

The teen, Kamela Himes, had been tubing down the Mad River with her family July 20, 2019. She was deflating her inner tube when she took a step out onto the road in the 3000 block of Lower Valley Pike in Springfield Twp.

She was struck by a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe that went left of center, which the OSHP said Wade was driving.
