A man accused of robbing a Springfield pharmacy is set to face a jury in less than two weeks.

Tyrez Boyd, 24, of Indianapolis, is scheduled for a jury trial on April 30, about five months after he was arrested for allegedly tying up employees of the Harding Road Pharmacy and robbing the store of oxycontin.

Boyd allegedly had an accomplice, according to a police affidavit, but that person remains at large.

Boyd is charged in Clark County Common Pleas Court with one count of aggravated robbery, seven counts of kidnapping, eight counts of aggravated drug possession and aggravated drug trafficking, according to court records.

Police were called on Dec. 5 to the pharmacy on Harding Road for a robbery in progress involving a gun, according to a police affidavit. A witness who tried to enter the store said the door was locked and he saw a man robbing the store, an affidavit says.

An employee also dialed 9-1-1 to say two suspects and a gun were there, according to police.

One of the suspects ran out the door carrying a white trash bag with bottles inside, according to court documents.

The suspect was able to get away but dropped the bag of stolen items, the officer said in the affidavit. Then the officer allegedly saw a second suspect running through the pharmacy. The suspect was identified as Boyd in the affidavit, and he allegedly also ran out of the store with a trash bag.

“I chased him on foot west and around the building northbound into the parking lot,” the court documents say. “He continued to the rear fence line. I caught up to him and he climbed an eight-foot privacy fence. I grabbed his jacket and he pulled over the top of the fence and (dropped) the bag of stolen narcotics in the process.”

The officer collected the bag, the report says, and returned it to the store where he allegedly found three women with their hands tied behind their backs.

“They advised that the suspects tied them up after Mr. Boyd pointed a gun at (one of the women),” the affidavit says.

Police searched the area and eventually arrested Boyd near the scene, the police affidavit says.
