Springfield Police Division officers were driving on East Main Street about 4 a.m. Tuesday when they noticed an SUV with a flat tire in the drive-through at McDonald’s, a police report says. The driver, Hameed, had finished ordering and was attempting to pull around to the first drive-through window with the tire completely down to the rim. Hameed told officers he was going to park once he got his order, the report says.

Officers identified Hameed and knew he had several outstanding warrants. Hameed pulled up to a parking spot and as officers attempted to stop him, he allegedly said, “Nah.” He then drove the vehicle toward them as he left, the report says, almost striking the two officers. One officer grabbed Hameed’s sweatshirt through the driver’s side window but let go for fear of being dragged and run over by the SUV, the report says.
Officers chased Hammed in their cruisers to the 100 block of Belleaire Avenue where the suspect had allegedly crashed into a parked car, the report says. Hameed ran away but officers tracked his footprints in the snow and took him into custody after a brief struggle.
Hameed allegedly had a baggie of marijuana in his pants pocket, the report says. Officers alleged they smelled a strong odor of alcohol on Hameed and that he had bloodshot eyes. In the police workroom, Hameed allegedly told officers: “I’m on the drugs.”
Hameed was placed in the Clark County Jail.
