An apparent disagreement over an auto part led to the shooting that sent one man to a hospital and the suspect into custody, a sheriff’s deputy said.

One suspect was arrested and was released, Clark County Sheriff Chief Deputy Jeff Meyer said. A grand jury will decide whether the alleged shooter should face charges, he said.

The suspect was not in police custody Tuesday morning, according to online jail records.

The shooting is believed to have occurred outside, near a garage on the property.

The victim, who was hit in his lower extremities, was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center and then to Miami Valley Hospital. His injuries are believed to be non-life threatening, the chief deputy said.

Deputies and a medic unit were dispatched about 7:10 p.m. on a report of a man who said he had been shot. The location of the shooting is near Northwestern Local Schools.

School officials issued a Facebook post alerting the community that parents, students and others at the school’s playing fields were evacuated. The evacuation took place because of the law enforcement activity occurring across Troy Road.

“Warrior Nation, there was an incident that occurred across the road from the school tonight. We did reverse evacuate the playing fields as a precaution. The incident is under control and athletics have resumed. Our students and fans are safe. Thank you for your cooperation,” the Facebook post said.
