Dan Hasting, 54, of New Carlisle, died at the scene of the June 30 collision. Hasting was the father of Kate Hastings, a singer.

His wife, Elizabeth Hasting, 52, was critically injured. She is a member of the Northwestern Board of Education.

Also injured in the collision were Robbins, James Elkins, 42, of New Carlisle, and Janet Robbins of Sidney, the Miami County sheriff’s office said.

Robbins was scheduled to go on trial Monday before Judge Gary Nasal in Miami County Municipal Court. Robbins died March 17, according to a death certificate filed with the court. The case was dismissed because of the man’s death.

Kate Hastings performed at the Clark County Fair a month after the accident involving her parents. She previously said the tragedy forced her to deal with a range of emotions.

“We’ve been letting our faith carry us. Faith without action isn’t faith. My dad was a man of God, and he taught us to move forward,” she said.

Her dad inspired her.

“My dad was the hardest worker I’d met, and anyone who knew him knew the last thing he’d want is sadness, and the opposite of honoring him would be to not go on,” Kate Hasting said.
