Officers responded to the shooting at 1532 W. Clark Street about 1:30 a.m. Saturday after dispatch received a call from the victim’s 17-year-old daughter.
“Please hurry,” the girl can be heard saying in the 911 call, obtained using public records. “She’s dying! My mom was shot in the chest!”
During the call, Powell can be heard telling the dispatcher that her boyfriend had also been shot.
When police arrived on the scene, they found Powell stumbling outside, holding her chest and saying that she needed help, according to a police report. She was taken to the hospital by the Springfield Fire and Rescue Division.

According to a report, officers observed that Punnett, who was laying inside the living room of the home, had suffered a gunshot wound to the head. Medics who were also called to the scene evaluated Punnett and determined he was deceased. His body was later taken to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy.
Sarah Shannon, who identified herself as Punnett’s fianceé, said he was from New York and had only been in Springfield a short time.
The report says Powell said she and Punnett had argued prior to the shooting, but she could not remember the details of what happened or the name of the person who shot her. On the 911 call, she can be heard saying the suspect was a white male.

Police are still investigating the incident and have not arrested anyone. However, officers asked anyone with any information about the case to call investigators at the Springfield Police Division at (937) 324-7685.
