“Thank you to the Clark County Republican Central Committee, who voted to approve me as the Clark County Prosecutor,” Driscoll said in a statement. “A huge thank you also to Clark County Municipal Court Judge Steve Schumaker and former Clark County Prosecutor Andy Wilson - along with many other family members, friends, and fellow Republicans - for their continued support.

“Looking forward to working hard to serve the people of Clark County as your prosecutor.”
Driscoll will be sworn into office on Feb. 28, but is serving as acting prosecutor now.
Wilson resigned from the office after serving in the prosecutor position since 2011. He took a job as the senior policy adviser for criminal justice in Gov. Mike DeWine’s administration.
Driscoll was named the acting prosecutor by the Clark County Commission shortly after Wilson resigned in January and the Republican Party has been working towards making a selection since.
The seat will be up for reelection in 2020.
Driscoll beat out Darnell Carter and Stephen Collins for the position. Carter and Collins applied for the job and were former Clark County assistant prosecutors.
The candidates were set to go through a number of interviews for the job. Clark County Republican Chairperson Dan Harkins said a screening committee recommended Driscoll for the job.

Driscoll has created slight changes to the office since taking over leadership of the prosecutor’s office. He’s created a Facebook page to update the community on the county’s criminal justice system. It can be found by searching “Clark County Prosecutor’s Office.”
