Craiglist seller reportedly robbed Sunday

SPRINGFIELD — Officers are investigating a reported robbery that happened around 11:30 a.m. Sunday on the outdoor lot of the Marathon service station, 900 block of West North Street.

A male victim told Springfield Police Division a male called to see the vehicle rims and tires that he had for sale on Craigslist. He told the male he would meet him at the service station, and brought with him his friend in case he was robbed.

Upon arrival, the victim met unidentified suspect three with whom he probably talked with on the phone. Suspect three asked where other three tires and rims were and the victim said he had been robbed before.

The suspect then pulled out large roll of cash. The victim drove back home with his friend to get the rest of tires and rims.

Arriving back at the service station, the victim parked next to a sky blue Ford Expedition and gray vehicle, possibly a Hyundai, he told police.

Then unidentified suspects one and two exited the gas station and walked up behind victim when suspect one pointed a black semiauto handgun, possibly at his back, he told police.

Suspect three stated “you know what this is”. The suspects took the tires and rims and put them in the Expedition. Suspects one, two and three in the Expedition and a fourth suspect driving the grey car fled through an alley toward West Columbia Street.

No other details were available Sunday afternoon.
