PREVIOUS REPORTING: Clark-Shawnee investigating baseball team allegations
“I haven’t seen the full, completed investigation at this point,” Wilson said. “I can’t make a decision one way or the other until we see everything that can be before us.”
The baseball program has been under scrutiny for about two months after allegations of harassment were made during a spring break trip to Tennessee. The Clark-Shawnee Local School District opened up an internal investigation while the sheriff’s office opened up its own.

The school cancelled multiple junior varsity and varsity baseball games in April while it conducted its investigation. Three players weren’t allowed back on the team and a volunteer coach was barred from participating for the rest of the season.
The school finished its internal investigation and said that it issued athletic and academic consequences to some students but wouldn’t provide any further details, citing federal student privacy laws.
Both Clark-Shawnee and the sheriff’s office have declined to detail the allegations, saying that juveniles are involved. Some parents have contacted the Springfield News-Sun to say that they believe students were harmed during the trip.
Clark County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Travis Russell referred questions to the prosecutor’s office when asked about the investigation. He said he has nothing new to report at this time.
Wilson said the prosecutor’s office has worked with deputies to help them get to the bottom of what happened.
