Clark County man accused of beating woman who tried to stop attack on neighbor

A man accused of assaulting a woman when she attempted to intervene while he was assaulting her neighbor has been indicted this week by a Clark County grand jury.

Joseph Jones, 24, was indicted on domestic violence and domestic assault.

Jones allegedly struck the victim in the face with a closed fist, then kicked her several times in the face, according to police reports.

In a witness statement, Jones’ alleged victim said she came over to check on her neighbor after she heard “screaming, crying and slamming.”

Once she arrived at the home, she said she heard her neighbor’s daughter screaming and yelling, “Get off my mommy.”

The victim then told Jones, “You can’t be doing that,” according to her statement.

That’s when she said Jones allegedly turned on her and “charged at her.”

After allegedly hitting and kicking her, Jones then fled the area, according to police reports.

When police arrived at the scene, Jones’ alleged victim had visible swelling and bruising to the left side of her face. A medic responded and treated her on the scene.
