Here are three crimes that happened in Springfield from the week of March 31 to April 6.

Springfield man accused of having sex with a 12-year-old

Tyler Pratt, 18, was charged in Clark County Municipal Court with unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. He pleaded not guilty and his bond was set at $7,500.

Springfield police began an investigation on Feb. 7 when they were assigned a case where Pratt was accused of having sex with a 12-year-old, an affidavit filed in the case says.

The child victim told Springfield police that she had consensual sex with Pratt, according to the affidavit.

Police spoke with Pratt on March 29, according to the affidavit.

“Mr. Pratt was read his Miranda rights and stated he understood them,” the affidavit says. “Mr. Pratt then corroborated much of the child victim’s offense. Mr. Pratt acknowledged he thought the child victim was 15 years of age at the time of the offense,” the affidavit says.

Pratt was charged and booked into the Clark County Jail at that time.

At a Monday court appearance, Pratt said he intends to hire his own attorney.

Springfield man accused of punching woman, shattering windshield of car with baby inside

Red Tolliver, 26, was charged in Clark County Municipal Court with endangering children, felonious assault, domestic violence and criminal damaging. At a Wednesday arraignment, Tolliver told the court that the allegations aren’t accurate and requested the judge set a low bond. He pleaded not guilty to the charges and his bond was set at $10,500.

Clark County law enforcement were called to Bellevue Avenue for a domestic violence issue, where responding officers saw another officer had a person pulled over and was wrestling with the suspect, an affidavit filed with the charges says.

“Mr. Tolliver continued to resist and wrestle (law enforcement)…,” the affidavit says. “(An officer) deployed his Taser and (law enforcement) were able to successfully apprehend Mr. Tolliver.”

In the car was a 3-month-old child, according to the affidavit.

Police spoke with a victim who said she came to Tolliver’s home to pick up their child. The victim told police that after getting into an argument, she loaded the baby into the car and Tolliver followed and struck the windshield with a hammer. A large amount of glass had flown into the front and back seat, the affidavit says.

The victim told police that Tolliver then reached into the vehicle, stuck her in the face, drug her out of the car, and got into the driver seat and sped off with the child in the backseat.

Springfield man tries to attack police officer with nunchucks

Don McDavid, 55, was arraigned on assault in Clark County Municipal Court after allegedly trying to attack a police officer with nunchucks before wrestling with him on the ground. He pleaded not guilty and his bond was set at $5,000.

Police were originally on a call related to a person who may be suicidal when they found McDavid, according to court documents.

When they found McDavid, police say he was being uncooperative and grabbed a pair of wooden nunchucks.

One of the officers tried to use a Taser on McDavid when McDavid lunged at him, but the officer was unsuccessful. Police say McDavid then started to wrestle with one of the officers.

Another officer was able to successfully use a Taser on McDavid and get him under control, according to an affidavit.

McDavid was taken into custody and checked out by medics.

While McDavid was in an ambulance, court documents say he told one of the officers, ‘Tell your buddy I’m sorry I tried to kill him.’
