The crash happened around 9 a.m. April 9 when a red or maroon four-door car ran a stop sign at the intersection of South Center and West Main streets in Springfield, and caused the collision by entering the path of another vehicle, police said.
The suspect driver got out of the car, removed the rear bumper — which did not have a license plate — and left it in the street before getting back in the car and driving away.
He was described as a man between 25 and 35 with brown hair. In the car with him was a toddler, described as a girl with blonde hair.
In addition to the missing bumper, the car should have damage around the passenger side rear wheel.
Anyone who has information on the man’s identity or whereabouts of him or the car is urged to call the police traffic division at 937-324-7717 or email spdtip@springfieldohio.gov.
