Police are investigating a breaking and entering that was reported at a Springfield business.

Officers were dispatched around 3:45 p.m. on Monday to Allstate Steel, 631 W. Southern Ave., regarding a breaking and entering to the business, according to a Springfield police report.

When police arrived, they spoke with the owner who said he left his business Sunday afternoon and returned around 3 p.m. on Monday to find his” front door pried open and the lock broken off.”

“(The owner) stated he had several items located around the property that were stolen,” the report said. “(The owner) also advised that he believed the tire iron that was located at the southeast door was used to break into the building.”

According to the report, the items stolen include a boat motor, two boat tires, four boat seats and miscellaneous boat instruments.

No suspect information was available, and Springfield police continue their investigation.
