5 arrested in prostitution sting at massage parlors

Police bust 2 spas for alleged prostitution after studying their business activities.

SPRINGFIELD — Police arrested five women in connection with two alleged prostitution operations, investigators said Wednesday, Aug. 25.

The women were arrested on charges of promoting prostitution, prostitution and soliciting, said Springfield Police Division Chief Stephen Moody.

Arrested were Yong C. Monroe, 73; Yi B. An, 67; Young A. Coyer, 63; Cum Starkweather, 56; and Min J. Delgado, 53.

The arrests came after a nearly two-year probe into the activities at two businesses, Miko’s Spa, 448 E. High St., and Tokyo Health Spa, 2201 S. Limestone St., Moody said.

During the course of the investigation, police received numerous complaints about nuisances at the establishments, he said.

“We would certainly thank the public for its patience,” said Moody. “I know it’s frustrating for people. I know they think we’ve turned a blind eye to this, and that’s simply not the case.”

The FBI and Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation assisted in the probe. More arrests could come as the investigation progresses, said Moody.

Investigators are still looking into whether the two operations were tied to each other.

The women were expected to be arraigned in Clark County Municipal Court this morning.
