The City of Springfield announced that it will be distributing kits to local small businesses as part of a shared effort to help those establishments stay safe during the coronavirus pandemic.

Those kits contain supplies designed to help those establishments slow the spread of the coronavirus, also known as COVID-19.

The kits are being provided by JobsOhio as well as the Dayton Development Coalition and will be available to businesses with 100 or less employees, according to a news release from the City of Springfield.

“The COVID-19 pandemic is effecting every facet of life in our community, and small businesses have struggled as well. As these businesses are opening up their doors again, we’re proud to be part of an initiative to help everyone stay safe and healthy,” said Springfield City Manager Bryan Heck.

“We stand with our small businesses and community partners to do what is needed during these extraordinary times,” he added.

Each kit, provided for free, contains 100 disposable face coverings, 10 N95 masks and one bottle of hand sanitizer. City officials were delivering those kits to businesses throughout the area on Tuesday.

Logan Cobbs, the assistant to the city manager, said that Springfield received 125 of the kits on Friday. She said that the city has complied a list of local businesses that meet the requirements needed to receive the kits.

Businesses that are looking for additional personal protective equipment or are looking to request a kit are asked to visit www.jobsohio.com/ohio-safe-ohio-working.
