The Clark State Performing Arts Center (PAC) has canceled its upcoming Cabaret Series show.

The performance was to be Friday, Nov. 13, but due to large spikes in coronavirus cases in Clark County, a couple performers had to drop out, prompting its cancelation according to PAC executive director Adele Adkins.

Anyone who had purchased tickets will be provided a full refund. Call the box office at 937-328-3874 with questions.

The PAC will feature a mix of live and virtual shows in upcoming weeks. The Springfield Symphony Orchestra will present its annual Springfield Youth Orchestras and Children’s Chorus fall concert on Nov. 23. Although that show will only be open to musicians' families, a livestream will be available to the public.

The Symphony will also have a holiday jazz concert on Dec. 5. The show will follow social distancing and other safety protocols. Details and ticket information are being finalized and will be announced on the Symphony’s official site and social media pages.

Symphony executive director Lou Ross said the Oct. 16 “Welcome Home” concert at the PAC, the first live show there since the pandemic began, fed the fire for future performances. The Symphony will announce its 2021 concert slate in the near future.

“It was so exciting having live music on the stage again, emotional for sure,” Ross said. “We hope we can continue live shows in 2021.”

Virtual shows will be another option in the next several weeks. The Ohio Performing Arts Institute’s anticipated annual performance of “The Nutcracker” won’t be presented live at the PAC this December, but instead a version will be recorded to be available online at a date to be announced.

Adkins had scheduled a virtual livestream show from London, England, for the beginning of December. However, a lockdown declared for the United Kingdom caused its cancelation.

“I am hopeful that the new date we have on hold will happen,” she said.

Adkins is also looking for other potential virtual shows, and hinted that Cabaret Series may still be performed live at a future date. Check the PAC’s website or social media pages for updates.
