Clark State Community College has officially become Clark State College.

“The addition of bachelor’s degrees prompted the name change consideration. The name ‘Clark State College’ does not exclude any part of the community, but it embodies the many diverse options available to students from certificates to transfer degrees and now also baccalaureate programs,” Brad Phillips, chairman of the Clark State College Board of Trustees, said in October. “We are excited to see the college progress with the changing needs of our communities.”

The college offers two bachelor’s degree programs – Manufacturing Technology Management and Web Development and Design.

The name was approved in October by the Board of Trustees. It became effective Jan.1.

“The name change is an indication of growth in mission and accessibility for our students and the community. The community, in fact, has never been more important to us, and the region will continue to see our unrelenting focus on serving them through programs, services, outreach, and the arts,” Clark State College President Dr. Jo Alice Blondin said in October.

Blondin said this name change indicates an increase in educational offerings for all Clark, Champaign, Logan and Greene counties. Clark State has campuses in Springfield, Beavercreek, Xenia and Bellefontaine.

“The college has seen three name changes... all changes that coincided with the ever-increasing educational opportunities Clark State offers,” she said. “With the addition of two bachelor’s degree programs, the Board recognized the need to reflect those opportunities in our title. Clark State College will uphold its undisputable reputation for quality education, affordability, unmatched student services and dedication to the communities it serves.”
