The Clark County Dog Shelter has been awarded a competitive grant worth over $19,000 from the Springfield Foundation.

According to a statement from the foundation, the dog shelter applied for the $19,004 grant for, “funding to spay/neuter dogs which have not been altered before they are adopted or released to their owner which addresses our initiative of decreasing the number of homeless and unwanted pets in Clark County.”

“By providing a $19,004 grant for spay/neuter, the Clark County Dog Shelter can reduce their costs, reduce adoption fees, and hopefully increase the number of dogs that are adopted,” the statement said.

The foundation said they were able to award the grant, which is larger than last year, because of the “generosity of one of our donor-advised fund representative, who matched the funding we had available from our Animal Welfare field of interest funds.”

In a statement on their Facebook page, the dog shelter thanked the foundation for the grant.

“Thanks to grant funding from the Springfield Foundation, more dogs will be spayed and neutered than ever! We are so grateful for the support of this wonderful organization,” the post said.
