Champaign County remains under a Level 1 Snow Emergency as snow continues to fall across the region.

Roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow, and roads also may be icy. Secondary roads are snow-covered and slippery, the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office posted on social media.

Champaign County continues under a LEVEL ONE snow emergency. Secondary road continue to be snow covered and slippery.

The sheriff’s office enacted the snow emergency around 10 a.m. Sunday, and at the time announced that the snow emergency would continue until further notice.

Champaign County is operating under a LEVEL 1 snow emergency. This will continue until further notice.

Logan County also is under a Level 1 Snow Emergency until further notice.

The Champaign County Sheriff’s Office provided an explanation for each of the levels:

LEVEL 1: Roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Roads also may be icy. Motorists are urged to drive with caution.

LEVEL 2: Roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Roads also may be icy. Only those who feel it is necessary to drive should be out on the roads. Contact your employer to see if you should report to work. Motorists should use extreme caution.

LEVEL 3: All roadways are closed to non-emergency personnel. No one should be driving during these conditions unless it is absolutely necessary to travel or a personal emergency exists. All employees should contact their employer to see if they should report to work. Those traveling on the roads may be subject to arrest.
