SPRINGFIELD — An apartment complex where many residents have been without water since Friday is working to restore service.

The Sunset Hills Apartments are in southeast Springfield, along John Street, just west of Selma.

City of Springfield officials said on Sunday that water service at Sunset Hills was temporarily shut off Friday at the request of representatives of the property to address a water leak.

There was no activity at the apartment complex early Monday morning, and residents declined to comment on the ongoing problem.

Heavy equipment including a backhoe arrived around 10:15 a.m. to begin work at the site, and an area was cordoned off for crews to dig into the frozen ground to make repairs.
