Multiple people, including the suspect, called 911 Wednesday night to report a shooting in north Springfield.

Springfield Police said the homicide took place outside apartments at 725 Villa Road. The suspect then called police dispatch describing what he had done before taking off in a car and leading police on a chase before shooting himself while fleeing, running off the road just north of Ohio 41, according to police. He was listed as still being treated for his injuries as of midday Thursday.

The man, identified in a police report as Stanley Casimir, told a dispatcher before the chase that the woman, identified in the report as Rodline Anacreon, had kicked him out the previous night and that on Wednesday he shot her multiple times. He said he was in the nearby Kroger parking lot in a black Ford Fusion with the gun in his lap.

“I just killed my girlfriend, my ex-girlfriend, I just killed her,” the man told the dispatcher.

He told the dispatcher he planned to die by suicide but would “have some fun” first, then he hung up.

After the police pursuit — northbound on Derr, west on Ohio 334, and then southbound on U.S. 68, the man was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center, and then to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, which is the region’s top trauma center.

Another caller to police Wednesday night, who identified herself as the victim’s sister, said the woman was on the sidewalk outside, bleeding. She said her sister’s ex had made threats a few days prior that he would shoot her twice in the head due to her leaving him.

Other callers said the victim was bleeding around her head and that they heard about six gunshots — three before hearing screaming, then three more. Multiple people heard a woman screaming for help and speaking Haitian Creole.
