Power restored to most in Champaign County

Hundreds of AES Ohio customers remain without power in Champaign County following heavy rains Monday morning.

As of 11:05 a.m., there were 262 total customers without service, including 227in Champaign County, according to AES Ohio’s Outage Map. Nearly all the outages in the county are south of Urbana.

The outage was reported around 8:57 a.m. and is expected to be restored around 11 a.m., according to AES Ohio.

The utility company reported a total of 1,672 outages earlier Monday, with approximately 800 in Champaign County and another 800 in Montgomery County.

The majority of customers in Montgomery County have had their service restored.
