A Clark County girl died of her injuries Thursday night at Dayton Children’s Hospital after she and another girl were seriously injured when they were struck by an SUV while walking a dog this week.

Isabel Conley of Green Twp. was 11.

Conley and Tori Fritschie, 14, also of Green Twp., and the dog were struck at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday by Jeep a Cherokee on Crabill Road, near Pitchin Road in Green Twp., said Sgt. Ryan Purpura of the Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Both girls were flown by medical helicopter the the hospital, and the dog died.

Fritschie was released from the hospital Friday, Purpura said.

Conley was a homeschooled student who lived in the Southeastern Local School District, said Superintendent David Shea.

“Very sad and tragic news. My heart breaks for her family,” he said.

The Cherokee, driven by Jessie Pierson, 40, of Springfield, was traveling north on Crabill Road when it struck the girls and the dog, Purpura said. Pierson was not injured.

Impairment and distracted driving do not appear to be factors in the crash, Purpura said.

Ohio State Highway Patrol Sgt. Ryan May said Tuesday night that it’s unclear whether the Jeep went off the road or if the girls were in the road, but the patrol’s crash reconstruction team was investigating.

May also said it was not clear whether speed was a factor but said the stretch of road is straight and it was still light outside when the crash occurred.

It is not clear whether any charges will be filed in the crash, which remains under investigation.
